Tape-out means the design is finalized. Mass production of AI5 is set for 2027, using TSMC’s Taiwan and Arizona fabs plus Samsung’s Texas plant. The chip will power Tesla’s autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots. AI6 will be produced exclusively by Samsung, with tape-out expected in December 2026.

Chip photos show “KR2613”, confirming the prototype was made at Samsung’s Korean fab in week 13 of 2026. AI5 prototypes use SK Hynix memory, and Samsung’s memory chips are also in the supply chain, with HBM supporting performance.

AI5 uses Samsung’s SF2T 2nm process, originally developed for AI6. Tesla is accelerating in-house chip design to reduce reliance on external suppliers.
